Vegan Caesar Dressing

vegancaesardressing.jpg

I am not a Vegan but I do know that many vegan recipes will leave out the crap, and by crap I mean dairy.   This recipe is great with traditional romaine lettuce or by doing a kale Caesar salad.

1 Avocado

1/4 cup water

4 cloves of garlic minced/chopped

1 tablespoon of dijon mustard

2 tablespoons of Nutritional Yeast

1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar

1/2 lemon juiced

1/4 tsp sea salt pepper to taste

Throw in vitamix or blender until smooth. You can also add this all to a food processor and get the same results.

Add to finely chopped romaine for a healthy Caesar Salad

Monday Motivation: Pursuit of Happiness

Have you seen this movie? There is not a time I watch it I am not in tears.  I am crying now watching this trailer I chose.

Life can knock us around for sure. I have lost a house, lost a car. But I had my babies, I had my family and I had myself.

Move through your day with strength and power in knowing that just being alive is a blessing.  It isn't easy, some days really suck.  BUT what I do know is there is always a way to choose happiness.

Recipe: Butternut Squash Soup

IMG_1123.jpg

Butternut Squash Soup.

Tonights facebook live is a recipe i have had in all of my cleanses.  It is great for super cold days like today and also great when you need a sweet comfort food, so to speak.

Most of the work comes from prepping the squash. You can now buy the squash already prepped if you are in a pinch in most grocery stores. You may pay a little more but it is worth the time if you don't have it to spare.

cut both ends off and slice down the middle, remove seeds.

cut both ends off and slice down the middle, remove seeds.

 Remove shin on both pieces.

Remove shin on both pieces.

Once this work is taken care of the rest is pretty easy sailing.

Recipe:

1 pound peeled butternut squash, cut into chunks

1 medium onion, sliced

 red apple cut into chunks

1 1/2 cups of veggie broth

1 tsp sea salt

Pumpkin spice or cinnamon, cloves, or even Italian herbs or dill ·

1/2 cup of canned coconut milk

option of honey, maple syrup or coconut sugar for a sweeter version.

Stick all the ingredients into a high speed blender except milk and herbs. Blend on high for 10 min ( if you want it hot and steamy) then mix in milk and herbs when done.  Play with your flavors and spices to get it exactly where you want it.  If you are choosing to keep it raw, you will need to blend it for a good amount of time in your vitamix to get it warm and creamy.   Enjoy!

Holiday Gift Ideas

As we all get older I find it hard to get a gift for my family that have everything. Gift cards can seem in personal even though some are the best route.  Finding a unique gift that they know they will use over and over that also provides value for their health is the road I try to go down.

If you still need to grab a gift for your family or friends here are some great healthy ideas.

Salt Lamp

Salt Lamps ionize the air, and also provide a wonderful light source that can create a peaceful space.

Diffuser with Essential Oils

This is a great way to add a clean natural aroma to your home, with out burning toxic petroleum candles. Choose a 100% therapeutic grade essential oil to diffuse. Brands like Young Living, DoTerra and Plant Therapy make great oils.

Whole Foods Gift Card

My sister is the queen of this. If you have a family memeber with a Whole Foods around them and you don't, you can email them a gift card. Whole Foods can scan it right on the recipents phone!

!

Addictive Wellness Chocolate

Sage and Ana Blanca have this amazing chocolate and elixer blends. It is a wonderful gift for the chocolate lover in your life and will give back to their health 10xs!

I hope this gives you a good start or to get the ball rolling to you coming up with healthy gift ideas for those on your list.

Have an amazing holiday season, Love you all!

Why Slender in Six

slenderin6.jpg

It has been over 3 years since I created a new program.  Since then I have worked with many clients. Over 10 years I have gained so much insights on what clients are wanting   male and female. We want to look good naked in the mirror, we want to have energy, longevity and a positive outlook on life.  We want something that works. We do not want to be tied to eating rabbit food or not actually living our life.

One thing that I know that is hard is, THIS TAKES WORK.  It takes making a change and getting outside the norm that got you where you don't want to be.  This isn't just done with our food. This is done with our routine, our emotions and by gaining more knowledge on what is right.

I don't blame you if you want to loose 5lbs or 30 lbs if that is realistic for your body. BUT I want you to loose those pounds but also feel amazing inside and out.   This is what Slender in Six is about!

Recipe: Buffalo Cauliflower Bites

IMG_0024.JPG

Cauliflower Buffalo Bites
1 cup of paleo flour ( almond, coconut, cassava)
1 large head of cauliflower cut into bites
1/2 cup of non dairy milk
1/4 cup water
spices for flour: turmeric, salt, pepper, paprika
Paleo Hot wing sauce, or any hot sauce

Make your flour mixture with spices.   begin mixing in the liquid. this is the time you may need a little more or less depending on the type of flour you chose.  Once you have a consistency almost like pancake batter, begin dipping your cauliflower pieces in the batter.   Place coated cauliflower on a lined or greased baking sheet.  Place in the oven on 425 for 10-15 min.  Remove from the oven and place your buffalo sauce on the cauliflower.   Place back in the oven for another 10 min until you begin to see or feel it is crispy. Remove and allow to cool.  Enjoy!
(paleo sauce I used: Steves Paleo Goods Wing Sauce)

Fat is your Friend

fats.jpeg

Did you know???

60 % of our brain is made of fat!

Eating fat is a good thing, just the right kind of fat. Some people thrive off a high (quality) fat diet like keto or paleo. While others need to add a little a day to feed their brain and reproductive organs.
One thing for sure,is that to many American's eat the wrong kind of fat. This leads to a host of health issues.

You can walk into any grocery store and you’ll see packages labeled with the NO FAT/LOW FAT claims. We know that not all oils and fats are created equal. Heavily processed fats and oils used in packaged foods are those fats that our bodies do not know what to do with. Fat from high-quality oils and whole foods are used by our bodies to help keep metabolism steady, nourish our skin, hair and nails and keep enough healthy “grease” in our engine to have the body’s functions work fluidly.

Some of the healthy fats include extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, unrefined sesame oil, ghee (clarified butter), whole nuts and seeds or nut butter, the fats in whole foods such as avocados and coconuts and the high-quality fats in cold-water fish such as salmon and tuna.
What fats are you getting on a daily basis?   I get avocado, mct oil, coconut oil, cacao nibs and seeds on a daily basis.
